Makorori Beach

This week I was learning how to use a hook.
We had to use different sentence starters and juicy verbs and a description.
Here is my story.


Slippery rocks made our feet slip while we searched the rock pools for octopus. We didn't find any. Kauri show us a seahorse. It was black and snake-like. We didn't pick it up because we didn't want to hurt it. 

After a while we wandered further along the rocks. When I was about to pick up a rock I saw a long orange tentacle. “Octopus!” I yelled. We only got to feel the one that look like a rock. Slimy tentacles suctioned to my hands.

Lifting the heavy rocks,  we found starfish, little crabs and sea slugs. The rocks that I lifted were slippery and heavy. 


We headed back to the cars to get some lunch. We got bored so we found a hut and we made a bridge. I picked up a log and it had four huhu grubs. I picked up one and gave it to my brother. We all dared him to eat it and he did. The skin popped and guts went into his mouth.

Hail Mary In Sign Language

Today I was learning how to do Hail Mary in sign language.
I found it easy to find a quiet spot.
I found it hard to get the actions right.

Jesus Ascending in to Heaven

Today we were learning about Jesus ascending into heaven. It happened 40 days after Easter Sunday. 
I enjoyed recreating The Ascension.
I found it hard to find images of Jesus.

Henri Matisse

We are learning about Henri Matisse. He made 1008 artworks. One of Henri Matisse's artwork is worth 33.6 million dollars.

We used primary colours plus white and black to make the colours we wanted to use. We had to blend white to show light direction.

I enjoyed mixing the colours.

I found it tricky getting the light direction right.

Lock Down Fights

Today for writing I did a recount. My recount was about the fights I had in lockdown with my little brother.
In my writing I used specific nouns, juicy verbs and dialogue.
I found it easy to find what recount I was going to write about.
I found it hard to create a good hook for my writing

Purple punching gloves smashed into my guts. another punch to the chest. Eli's proper punching gloves started to hurt. ”FIGHT ME!” Eli yelled. My punching gloves weren't hard enough. I punched him back in the nose and the shoulder and in response, he went super insane and punched me till I fell to the ground. I kicked him so he would get off me. Eventually mum told us it was time to stop.

Flappy bird coding

Today for reading and inquiry we created our own flappy bird game. Today I was learning how to code.
I found it easy to choose a background and a different bird.
I found it hard to get the code right.

Today we where leaning about yucky bugs and how they help the world.

Maths/computer science

Today I was learning about binary.Today I did computer science I had to create the number 45 in binary. Binary is the code that is used to create much of what is the internet.

I found it easy to make 45.

I found it hard to figure out how to do it.

I made 45 in binary I use these numbers 32,8,4 and 1.

Reduce, reuse, recycle, repurpose.

I am learning to Reduce, reuse, recycle, repurpose I have made a google drawing with facts and pictures of what will happen to sea life.
I found it easy to create the google drawing.
I found it hard to find eye catching facts.

Famous Laundry Art

Today I made famous laundry art. I enjoyed because there was a lot of different colours to choose from and it was colourful. It was a bit different because the art that we do in class. We can't  do it together because we are in a pandemic called COVID-19.
I found it easy to create the artwork.
I found it hard to choose what artwork I was going to do.

Taskmaster cookie challenge

In room 1 we have something call taskmaster and we have fun challenges to complete.
I found it easy to get the cookie in my mouth.
I found it hard to get it get it in when I was practicing.

I found it easy to create it.
