Parihaka

This week we are learning about Parihaka.
They didn't fight back when the soldiers came and destroyed their village. The women baked bread for them to eat and the children danced and song with albatross feathers in their hair. The soldiers took the men to jail and destroyed the village. When the man got out of jail, they came back and started to rebuild the village.
My digital learning object shows the values pf the Parihaka people.
I found it hard to get the feather right.
I found it easy to get the words.

The Materialiser

In Reading we are learning to infer. We had to create a character profile of the Doctor from the story called The Materialiser. I found it easy to insert the clouds and shapes. I found it tricky to put it on my blog because I tried to link it instead of embed it.

 Today We were learning to know how to verify online information and analyse the construction of digital media.
I found it easy to  find the pictures.
I found it hard to get the moose.

I am learning how to deal with haters and trolls.
I found it easy to write my ideas down.

Amazon Rainforest Wildfires

We are learning about Amazon Rainforest wildfires. I enjoyed finding out about all the animals that live there.I found it hard to find facts. My digital learning object shows I can find the main ideas in articles and put it in my own words.

Maths Quiz

We are learning  to link slides.
I found it easy to find a gif.
I found it hard to link. I had trouble getting my slides the right size on my blog.

St Mary Mackillop

Last Thursday we went to church because it was St Mary MacKillop's feast day. Monsignor Frank talked  about her and we came back and wrote down some facts. I did not find this easy. It was hard because I couldn't put it into my own words. 


Last Thursday it was Mary Mackillop's feast day. Our whole school went to mass.  Afterwards, we had to answer 3 questions about Mary Mackillop.
Who was Mary MacKillop?
Mary MacKillop was born in Australia and came to New Zealand. She helped the poor kids and built schools. 
What did Mary MacKillop do?
Mary MacKillop was a teacher. She always had lollies in her pockets and gave them to the kids. She was kind and always helped.

How to Remove a Background

We are leaning to remove a background from an image.
I enjoyed tilting the motorbike so it looked like it was doing a wheelie.
I found it hard not to chop my body when my photo still had some background attached to me.

Bees

I'm leaning about bees.
I found it easy to put it into my own words.
I found it interesting that there are 20,000  different species of bees.

St Joseph

We are learning about the saints. I found it easy to insert a photo. I found it tricky to get my facts.

He doesn’t say anything in the Bible. He has two    feast days. He is the patron saint of lots of different things. He is the foster father of Jesus. He wasn’t very rich. He was a carpenter. He was a compassionate and caring man.

Spring

We are learning about describing words. I didn't find it easy. I found it tricky to finish. I found it hard to describe the lambs and the flowers. 

Outside, white fluffy lambs pranced around. Yellow daffodils bloomed in gardens. Lime green leaves sprouted back on tall trees. Pink blossoms flourished.

Science Fair

We have been learning how to float an egg in water.

I  liked watching the egg slowly rise.

I found it hard  to write the explanation.

Gummy Worms

We are learning about chemical reactions. Some are reversible and some are irreversible. I liked making gummy worms. We had to write an explanation about what happened.If I did this again, I would try and finish faster.

Have you ever wondered how a polymer is made? Mix two cups of water and a teaspoon of calcium chloride into a bowl to make an activator solution. Suck up sodium alginate into a pipette and squeeze the liquid into the bowl. It formed gummy worms. This is a chemical reaction. It is a irreversible.

Hello my name is Josh. I go to St Mary's School. I am in year 5. I live with my mum and dad. I have one sister, one brother and one dog.
